BETOGARD SN-125
Protective coating of concrete structures against edible substances based on epoxy
Description:
BETOGARD SN-125 is a solvent-free epoxy paint for protecting concrete surfaces. This paint is ideal for application in coastal areas and underwater, as it continues to cure even after immersion in water. It can be applied on moist surfaces and with the use of a modified epoxy system, it can also be applied in exposed atmospheric conditions.
Properties and Effects:
Excellent adhesion on dry and moist surfaces
Ability to cure underwater
Very good light resistance as a protective system
Longevity and durability
Resistance to chloride ions and salts in seawater
Non-toxic and suitable for use in hygienic environments
Application Areas:
Concrete and metal structures in coastal and near-coastal areas
Dockyards and ships in coastal and near-coastal areas
Dams and water treatment plants
Consumption Amount:
The recommended thickness of this paint is 250 to 500 microns, and the amount of paint consumed will be 400 to 800 grams.
Surface preparation:
The surface below should be clean and free of any contamination. Before applying the coating, all surfaces should be prepared according to ISO8504 standards. Dust and soluble salts should be washed off with clean water. Oil and grease should be removed with a cleaning solvent according to SSPC-SP1 standards. All surfaces should be prepared using sandblasting or specialized tools according to ISO 8501-1 standard. If there is a time gap between surface preparation and the application of BETOGARD SN-125, micro-metering is recommended. The surface profile should be between 50 and 70 microns.
Mixing:
The preparation of BETOGARD SN-125 requires mixing the two separate packages completely with each other. The mixture must be used within the working time (pot life) specified. First, mix the two components separately under the mixer; then add component B (the black component) to component A until the container is completely emptied. The mixing of the two paint components should be done with an electric drill and paddle at a speed of 300 to 400 revolutions per minute. Continue mixing until complete mixing and obtaining a uniform color is achieved. It is recommended to mix the amount of material that will be used within 30 minutes. Exact ratios of the two components must be observed and should not be changed.
Performance:
To apply epoxy paint, you can use an airless sprayer, a roller, or a paintbrush. It is recommended to apply it in two layers, with the second layer applied before the first layer dries. If more than 24 hours pass between the two applications, the surface of the first layer should be prepared.
The physical and chemical properties of epoxy paint are as follows:
Physical state: Liquid with high viscosity
Color: White (Part A) and black (Part B) with a greyish mixed color
Specific gravity (g/cm3): 1.0±0.4
Mixing ratio (weight): A:B = 5:1
Volume solid percentage: 100
Resistance to sea water: Excellent
Adhesion to concrete (N/mm2: 2.5-3 (more than
Concrete cohesion)
The drying time for BETOGARD SN-125 depends on the temperature and the following conditions:
At 15°C, the minimum drying time is 9 hours and the maximum is 32 hours. The recommended temperature for applying the next layer is 15°C.
At 25°C, the minimum drying time is 6 hours and the maximum is 24 hours. The recommended temperature for applying the next layer is 25°C.
At 40°C, the minimum drying time is 4 hours and the maximum is 18 hours. The recommended temperature for applying the next layer is 40°C.
Note:
The drying time depends on the thickness of the applied coating, and all information in this catalog is based on the recommended dry film thickness.
**POT LIFE (Working Time):**
- Temperature (°C): 15, 25, 40
- Working Time (minutes): 70, 45, 20
Note: Increasing the volume of resin and hardener after mixing will lead to a quicker rise in the paint temperature and consequently a shorter working time.
Notes:
- Storage period: 1 year in original packaging
- Storage conditions: Keep the container closed, away from moisture, freezing, and direct sunlight.
- Ideal storage temperature: 10+ to 30+ degrees Celsius
- Packaging: 12 kg package (10 kg of Component A, 2 kg of Component B)
Protection and safety:
The product in question is a fire extinguisher. It should be kept away from direct heat and flames. The container should be kept closed. The operating environment must have a suitable ventilation system. Avoid direct and continuous contact with the skin. In case of an emergency, immediately consult a physician. Avoid disturbing the injured area. For more information, refer to the safety data sheet (MSDS) available.
